While Ajaccio is the capital of Corsica, it's not necessarily a thriving tourist destination. However, Napoleon lovers come for the city's unique claim on their subject, and ample accommodation exists here.
Those wishing to venture out of town may find the nearby city of Propriano more inviting.
Ajaccio is the main city on Corsica and boasts a fairly good supply of hotels, however it is advisable that you book in advance to avoid dissapointment in the summer. It is a pleasant city and many of the hotels have a nice view of the bay.
Several two, three and four-star hotels are located in the city of Ajaccio. They include the Hotel Eden Roc Ajaccio, situated next to the beach on the Bay of Ajaccio; the Hotel Napoleon Ajaccio, located at the heart of the city; and the Hotel Fesch Ajaccio, at the centre of the Old City.
